Community guidelines

Five rules, the reasoning behind each, and what actually happens when one is broken.

A marketplace is only as good as the behaviour it makes normal. These are the rules, and each one exists because breaking it damages someone specific — not because it reads well on a policy page.

  • Be honest. Represent your skills, your needs, and your deliverables accurately. An overstated capability wastes a client’s deadline; an understated requirement wastes an expert’s week.
  • Be respectful. No harassment, hate speech, or discrimination. This is not negotiable and is not softened by a project going badly.
  • Keep work and payments on-platform, so the protections actually apply to you.
  • Deliver what you agreed, and say so early when plans change. Early bad news is a manageable problem; late bad news is a dispute.
  • Respect confidentiality and intellectual property. Client systems, data, and credentials are not yours to reuse, publish, or keep.

What enforcement looks like

BehaviourTypical response
Policy text in a post or listingHeld for review, or rejected — edit and resubmit
Sharing contact details to go off-platformContent removed; repeated attempts risk suspension
Misrepresenting deliverablesDispute decided against you; reviews reflect it
Harassment or hate speechAccount action, up to permanent suspension
Fraud, or circumventing escrowSuspension, and funds held pending investigation
Most enforcement is on content, not accounts. Account action is reserved for conduct and fraud, and repetition is what escalates it.

Breaking these guidelines can mean removed listings, held funds, or a suspended account. Where money is in escrow, it is held until the matter is resolved rather than released to either side.

Reporting something

If you see a listing, post, or message that breaches these rules, report it rather than replying to it. Reports are read by a person, and the reporter is not identified to the other party.
